First Blog!

Sorry I haven’t been posting any blogs. Yesterday was a snow day and today we have half day.
On Monday I got to the airport and there were 2 team leaders waiting for us by the baggage claim with 20 other members. We got on a bus that took us on an hour ride to a place that’s like the convention center in Perryville. We ate dinner and got our housing plans. There are houses (the Village) and there are dorms (9H). I’m in the Village. Everyone calls each other village people, I feel like we should all sing the YMCA hahaha. If you’re a Badger or a Raven you’re in the dorms and if you’re a Wolf you’re in the houses. The houses were built during the Civil War so they’re pretty old. My package with my bedding hadn’t arrived yet so I had to go to the dorms and get a sleeping bag. They gave me this huge army one that I might trade in cuz it’s heavy. Then I finally made it to my house 1111 at 10:00. Stephanie let me in all my other housemates were asleep. I have my own room with a bunk bed, 2 dressers and a closet. The house has a living room, dining room, kitchen and upstairs there’s 4 rooms and a bathroom. I have 5 housemates. They’re all really nice.




Tuesday we ate breakfast and got into our Pods (our temporary teams). Then we spent the whole day in the gym filling out paper work and getting fitted for our uniforms and getting our IDs. I made a lot of friends from another Pod- Jenny, Erin, Sabrina, DanI and some others. They’re wolves too so they live just down the street. Then we went to dinner at the convention center place and 2 of our housemates went grocery shopping. The rest of us went back to the houses and waited for them to get back. It snowed a few inches so we had to carry the groceries from the van parked up the street to our house. They said today would be a snow day so we get to sleep in. Then I went over to Jenny’s house and played Apples with 10 people. After I lost I came back to my house and went to bed.


Yesterday (Wednesday) I woke up feeling dizzy from my ears, (it happens about once a month where the room starts spinning and I feel like I just got off a crazy roller coaster) but I talked to my mom and she made me feel better. I got up and talked with my housemates and we spent most of the day cleaning the house. My room had 2 spiders that Jamie killed for me and the lead paint on the ceiling was peeling away so I scrubbed it and moved some furniture around and unpacked. I finally went in the basement where the washer and dryer are, its pretty scary down there, we won’t talk about it. Then the boys next door came over and we split our dinners. They’re all really nice pretty much everyone is really nice hahaha


Today (Thursday) we had to walk to a back parking lot and we shoveled out all the vans, that took 2 hours. But now we have the rest of the day off. My temporary team leader Deb is awesome I hope she’s my permanent leader. It’s really easy to make new friends. I actually met a Becca who reminds me of Becca! Both have the same quirky personality, and tons of energy even after shoveling. I hope she’s on my team too. Our house doesn’t have wireless internet, that’s why it’s taken so long to write. We have to walk down the street to “the Wolf Den” where there’s a computer lab and wireless internet and games and such. I’ll try to post as many pictures and write as much as I can!
